Rodney Shelton has dedicated over 27 years to the field of education, making significant impacts as both an educator and administrator. He is currently making strides as an Assistant Principal within the Sumter County Schools, a role he stepped into after years of enriching the district as a teacher and sports coach. Beyond the classroom walls, Rodney has shared his expertise as an adjunct instructor at South Georgia Technical College, further amplifying his commitment to education.
Rodney's academic journey is rooted in Georgia, where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Georgia Southwestern College, now known as Georgia Southwestern State University. He later advanced his qualifications with a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Columbus State University. Rodney lives by the philosophy that eucation is a fundamental key to success, a belief captured by his favorite quote, "If you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day. But if you teach a man to fish, you feed him for a lifetime."
Outside of his professional endeavors, Rodney is a passionate sportsman with a particular fondness for golf and hunting. He also enjoys watching sports, with football and basketball being his favorites. Family plays a central role in his life; he is a devoted husband and father to a daughter. Rodney is enthusiastic about the future and the expansive opportunities his current position will bring to the communities it serves, committed to leveraging his vast experience to make a positive impact.
